Our Services

Behavioral Counseling

Shifts in your pet’s behavior may be an indication of underlying medical issues. At Mulnix Animal Clinic we review our patient’s behavior and assess them for medical concerns that may be causing the issue. From there, we develop a plan to address your pet’s behavior.

If we find your pet’s behavior is not a result of a medical condition, we will discuss other measures that can be taken to correct certain behaviors.

Dentistry

According to the American Veterinary Dental Society more than 80% of dogs and 70% of cats have dental disease by the age of 3. Dental disease can be very uncomfortable for pets and the longer it is left untreated, the more complicated and expensive it becomes to treat. Furthermore, improper care of your pet’s teeth can often be the cause of serious illness. If left untreated, dental problems can lead to larger systemic problems in your pet due to oral bacteria entering the bloodstream and damaging the kidneys, heart and liver.

If your pet is experiencing any of these symptoms, please make an appointment immediately:

  • Yellow or brown buildup (tartar) on the teeth
  • Red, swollen, or bleeding gums
  • Bad breath
  • Excessive drooling
  • Changes in eating or chewing habits
  • Pawing at the face
  • Loose teeth
  • Depression

Proper dental care is one of the easiest ways to protect your pet’s health and keep them pain free. Schedule an oral exam to prevent irreversible periodontal disease, tooth loss, and possibly expensive oral surgery.

Your Pet’s Dental Cleaning
At Mulnix Animal Clinic, your pet’s dental cleaning begins with a physical examination. This examination is important for evaluating your pet’s general health. After the physical exam, your pet is given an anesthetic for a safe and painless sleep during his or her dental cleaning.

The first part of dental cleaning requires the removal of tartar using a hand scaler. Next, an ultrasonic scaler is used to clean above the gum line while a curette cleans and smooths the teeth under the gum line in the crevice between the teeth and gums. Then your pet’s teeth are polished, and the gums are washed with an anti-bacterial solution to help delay tartar build-up.

If your pet requires advanced procedures such as root canals or extractions, we will have a specialist come in to complete these services.

Diagnostic Services

Radiology and Ultrasound
We offer medical imaging to aid in the diagnosis of many different conditions. Radiographs and ultrasound are painless and noninvasive ways to evaluate organs and bones, allowing us to better understand what is occurring in a pet’s body. In some cases, medical imaging can detect conditions and situations that may otherwise have gone undetected for months or years. Our state-of-the-art radiology and ultrasound are conducted by our trained and compassionate staff, making it both safe and effective.

Laser Therapy

Laser therapy is a non-invasive method of pain management that is used to treat a variety of conditions and can be performed in conjunction with existing treatments. Laser treatment uses deep-penetrating light to promote the stimulation of injured cells and the release of endorphins.

You may begin to see improvement in your pet’s condition after their first treatment, but with each additional treatment you will reduce your pet’s healing time and reduce inflammation. If your pet suffers from pain associated with osteoarthritis, hip dysplasia, chronic/acute pain or trauma, skin conditions, ear infections, post-surgical healing, wound/laceration healing, and more, consider laser therapy treatment.

Microchipping

Microchipping your pet is a painless and easy way to increase the likelihood of being reunited with your animal if they were to become lost. Tagged collars are always recommended, however, microchips are an additional layer of protection if your pet’s collar happens to fall off. Each microchip is the size of a grain of rice and once registered transmits the contact information of owners to a handheld scanner. Most veterinary hospitals and shelters have a handheld scanner that they will use when a lost pet is brought in. If your pet is microchipped and registered, they will then be able to reach out to you and safely return your pet.

Vaccines And Parasite Prevention

Vaccines are an important preventative care tool for keeping pets healthy starting at a very young age. Vaccines provide immunity against certain diseases or lessen the severity of others to provide maximum protection. At Mulnix Animal Clinic, we will help you create a vaccine schedule for your pet, and we will make vaccines as quick and painless as possible.

Wellness Care

Preventing a disease before it occurs is the easiest way to ensure a long and healthy life for your pet. Routine wellness exams allow us to prevent future health problems or detect disease early. During routine wellness checkups, your veterinarian will assess:

  • Overall Body Condition
  • Eyes
  • Ears
  • Nose
  • Mouth
  • Throat
  • Heart and Lungs
  • Abdominal Organs
  • Musculoskeletal System
  • Neurologic System
  • Urogenital System
  • Lymph Nodes
  • Skin/Coat

If a cause for concern is identified during your pet’s wellness exam, we will develop a treatment plan together.
